The Challenge We're Tackling
Despite years of economic reforms and a growing entrepreneurial culture, youth unemployment in Ghana remains a pressing issue. According to Macrotrends.net, 5.41% of young people aged 15–24 were unemployed in 2024 (macrotrends.net). Even more concerning, data from the United Nations in Ghana indicates that 32.8% of youth in this age range are either chronically unemployed or entirely disengaged from the labor force. These numbers represent more than just statistics. They reflect lost potential, stalled dreams, and communities left behind.
In response to this crisis, many young people are turning to entrepreneurship as a way out. But this path is often full of uncertainty. Without proper guidance, skills, or support, the odds are stacked against them. In fact, nearly 80% of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Africa fail within their first five years, according to BusinessDay.ng. This cycle of trial, failure, and discouragement only worsens economic instability and limits long-term opportunity.
At EK Brand Consult, we believe these aren't failures of ambition but rather failures of access. Talent and drive exist in abundance across Ghana, but access to the right knowledge, mentorship, and resources remains scarce.
That's where the Syde Hassle Project comes in.
This initiative was created to bridge the gap between potential and possibility, by equipping young Ghanaians with the practical tools, confidence, and community they need to succeed. Through hands-on workshops, inspiring storytelling, mentorship, and a robust online platform, the Syde Hassle Project aims to empower a new generation of African entrepreneurs and leaders who are ready to build businesses, transform communities, and shape the future of the continent.
